WAYNESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

The Wayne County road superintendent has been charged with theft, misuse of county inmates and misuse of county property after a two-month investigation, according to the district attorney’s office.

District Attorney Brent Cooper said Superintendent Charles Moser, 56, was indicted on charges of theft over $10,000, misuse of county inmates and misuse of county property.

Jimmy Staggs, 61, the supervisor at the Wayne County Highway Department, was also indicted on a charge of misuse of county property.

Both Moser and Staggs turned themselves in on Thursday and were released after posting bond.
