NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police have arrested a man in connection with a rape reported this week that occurred last month on the campus of Tennessee State University.

Police said Darius Booth, 29, was arrested on Wednesday on the charge of aggravated statutory rape in the incident involving a 17-year-old female student in a parking lot on campus.

According to the affidavit, the victim and Booth met through Twitter. Booth told her he was 23.

The victim called Booth about 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 21 when she was upset. He came to Rudolph Hall at 1:25 to pick her up.

They were in Booth’s car looking for a parking spot when the victim fell asleep because she was tired.

Booth drove them to the top of the Hale Overflow Parking lot where he allegedly raped the victim after being told at least three times to stop, according to the affidavit.
