NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police are asking for help in identifying a woman accused of depositing stolen checks.

Surveillance photos from a bank on Nolensville Road show the woman depositing stolen checks on more than one occasion.

Investigators said it’s important to never leave checks in your car, mailbox or anywhere that is not secure because they have so much personal information on them.

“It’s your name. It’s your address. It’s your bank’s routing number. It’s your account number. It’s the sequence you’re in within your checkbook. And a lot of the guys don’t want your checks. They just want your information so they can start fabricating checks and make counterfeit checks,” said Sgt. Michael Warren with the Metro police Fraud Unit.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Fraud Unit at 615-862-7594.
