Bush’s Baked Beans recalled over defective cans

(MEREDITH) – Bush Brothers and Company is recalling three varieties of baked beans due to defective side seams on the cans.

The recall includes certain 28-ounce cans of Brown Sugar Hickory Baked Beans, Country Style Baked Beans and Original Baked beans with "best by" dates of June 2019.

Detailed product descriptions for the recalled beans are listed below:

  • 28-ounce Bush’s Best Brown Sugar Hickory with case UPC of 0039400019770 - Lot Codes 6097S GF and 6097P GF
  • 28-ounce Bush’s Best Country Style with case UPC of 0003940091974 and 00340001974 - Lot Codes 6077S RR, 6077P RR, 6087S RR, and 6087P RR
  • 28-ounce Bush’s Best Original with case UPC of 003940091614 and 003940001614 - Lot Codes 6057S LC and 6057P LC

The company said it issued the recall after discovering a quality issue with a can supplier, but corrected the problem.

Customers are urged to throw away the affected products immediately, even if the beans do not look or smell spoiled.

The company said no illnesses or other adverse consequences have been reported in connection with the recall.
