Woman with multiple gunshot wounds found driving in South Nashville

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Good Samaritan alerted Metro Police officers to a woman driving in South Nashville with multiple gunshot wounds on Sunday morning, police say.

South Precinct Officers worked the crime scene in a parking lot on Murfreesboro Pike earlier that morning when they received a tip that a driver was swerving on Wallace Road near Nolensville Pike.

Police made contact with the driver and discovered she was a victim of the earlier incident and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

There was an early indication that the original incident may have been related to a robbery, but police have not confirmed this.

It's also unclear if the victim was driving to get help or fleeing the first crime scene.

The victim is currently being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

This is a developing story, stay with Channel 4 for updates.
