NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

One group thinks Music City needs more music.

“So we always say, anyone can be a performer, anywhere can be a venue,” said Matt Fox.

Fox believes that and lives that, with a melodica in his mouth to prove it. He’s clearly inspiring others to play an instrument too.

“We always say if we get one person to get invested in music or to dust off that old guitar in the attic, then our mission has been completed,” he said.

How good you are isn’t the point, it’s all about fun.

“As long as you have lungs and can fake it, I suppose,” Fox said.

Mayor Megan Barry has declared June 21 Make Music Day in Nashville. Whether it’s from a basement or with the public piano serenading a barge or boat, play something and your life will be better.

The piano is Fox’s real instrument. That’s why he cares so much. He hopes others can join in that passion.

“So we open our doors to anyone who wants to celebrate music,” Fox said. “The more the merrier.”

Look for music to spontaneously happen all over Nashville on Wednesday.

Fox’s nonprofit, Make Music Nashville, will give away 1,000 musical instruments on that day.
