Gas leak causes evacuations in Donelson

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A gas leak occurred at Donelson Pike and Emery Drive in Donelson on June 17.

During construction work associated with the Cumberland City Low Water Transmission Main Project, Garney Construction, the contractor, hit a one inch gas service line, according to police.

It is believed to be natural gas.

Police and fire on the scene has closed road ways and evacuated houses and businesses in a three block radius. 

Peidmont gas is on site and crews are working to stop the leak.

There were no injuries.

It is unknown when the scene will be reopened.
