Police identify homeless man found beaten to death in parking lot

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro Police identified Alvester Merriweather, 53, as the homeless man found apparently beaten to death in the parking lot of Brake Zone Complete Car Care on Lafayette Street on Friday morning. 

Officers say they were flagged down by people in the area just before 8 a.m., who led them to the beaten man. Merriweather was already dead when officers arrived. 

After an investigation, Metro detectives determined he was last seen between 2 and 3 a.m.  that same morning at a temporary staffing agency on Lafayette where he worked. 

Police have not released any information about suspects or potential motives in this violent death.
