NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

“I Like It, I Love It” has been the Predators’ goal song since day one. And while we unfortunately didn’t hear it too much Thursday, the story behind it is pretty special.

It was a summer day in 1994, when three guys sat down to write a country love song.

“We were just tossing some ideas around," said songwriter Jeb Anderson.

“Spent 48 dollars last night at the county fair.”

There's no frills. No big romantic gestures.

“I threw out my shoulder but I won her that teddy bear.”

Just a tune about a country boy trying to impress a lady.

“She sits down on the sofa, She’ll move a little closer, She can’t get enough of me.”

And it caught on big time.

"I like it, I love it, I want some more of it."

Keith Urban demoed the song before he was big. Tim McGraw cut it. And listeners didn't just like it – they loved it.

It sailed to the top of the charts. The Predators adopting it as their goal song was just icing on the cake.

“The whole crowd is singing our song and we're like, that's our song. I have to say it every time they score a goal and my kids are like, ‘Yeah, we know, Dad, it's your song," joked songwriter Mark Hall.

You can't deny it's catchy. Even I couldn't help singing it earlier this week after the Predators took a win.

“There’s a little chant aspect to it and it gets hooky in your head," Hall said.

"It's really like hitting the lottery," said songwriter Steve Dukes.
