NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

With thousands of people heading to Nashville and Middle Tennessee this weekend, Vanderbilt LifeFlight is sharing some tips to make sure everyone is as safe as possible.

At last year’s CMA Music Festival, Vanderbilt’s medical event team treated most of its patients for heat-related illnesses.

Doctors are reminding everyone to stay hydrated. Festival-goers should drink water even if they don’t feel thirsty.

When it’s hot outside, alcohol can make a person even more dehydrated and intensify their symptoms.

There will be more than 100 Vanderbilt EMTs working throughout the four-day festival.
