Third Period

2:59: Things getting chippy on the ice after Phil Kessel whistled for cross-checking Matt Irwin. Penguins penalty box is full with three players.Matt Cullen and Chris Kunitz assessed with 10-minute misconduct penalty along with Nashville's Austin Watson.

4:22: Patric Hornqvist for the Penguins and Mattias Ekholm for the Predators assessed 10-minute misconduct penalties.

4:36: Both teams whistled for a pair of penalties.Daley and Cole sent to the box for Pittsburgh, Arvidsson and Neal in the box for Nashville.

6:50: Mattias Ekholm scores topside on Murray's stick side to give Predators their second power play goal and 5-1 lead.

7:17: Malkin called for cross-checking, giving the Predators a power play. Crosby called for boarding. Nashville's Forsberg given a 2-minute penalty for cross-checking.

9:18: Minor penalties called for roughing against Nashville's Ekholm and Pittsburgh's Hagelin. Teams skate 4-on-4.

14:10: Another catfish makes its way onto the ice during a stoppage of play.

15:06: Craig Smith with a breakaway goal to give Predators a 4-1 lead.

17:32: Murray makes a great save on a Gaudreau breakaway attempt.

Second Period

Through two periods, the Predators have outshot Pittsburgh 28019.

22.6: James Neal beats Murray after puck comes from behind the net to give Predators a 3-1 lead. Arvidsson and Josi credited with assists.

2:16: Predators barely miss off faceoff to the left of Murray.

2:59: Predators have another short-handed chance stopped by Murray.

3:23: Ryan Ellis called for boarding Guentzel, giving the Penguins their third power play of the game.

3:45: Forsberg's shot to the sick side of Murray deflected into the netting to force faceoff.

5:34: Penguins with a couple of chances with traffic in front of the net before Rinne is able to freeze puck. Predators have outshot Penguins 22-17 at this point for the game and lead 2-1.

7:46: Murray with the great save on rush by Predators, making pad save on James Neal.

8:42: Gaudreau just missed a shot wide for his second goal of the game.

9:25: Craig Smith passes in front of net, but no one there for Predators.

11:24 Just before the TV timeout, Fisher missed wide of net.

12:54: Rinne makes an amazing save to prevent Pittsburgh from tying game.

13:27: Frederick Gaudreau beats Murray from in front of the keeper. Wilson and Josi credited with assists.

14:53: Ryan Ellis' shot was blocked which led to a short-handed attempt by Carl Hagelin.

15:47: Penguins whistled for first penalty of the game. Defenseman Justin Schultz whistled for holding.

17:18: Phil Kessel's pass turned into a shot and Rinne holds it for a faceoff.

18:18 James Neal's shot off a faceoff win is deflected into the netting to force another faceoff.

18:46: Colton Sissons mishit a shot to the left of Murray. Murray was able to make the save.

The second period is underway.

First Period

After one period, Pittsburgh leads Nashville 1-0. The Predators have outshot the Penguins 12-6 and outhit Pittsburgh 17-9. The Predators have been called for two minor penalties in the period.

0:02 Craig Smith's shot from in front blocked away by Murray at the end of the period.

1:48: Subban takes puck into zone and leaves for Fisher, whose through traffic is gloved by Murray.

3:06: Yannick Weber's shot from the right dot gloved by Murray.

4:42: Final stoppage of first period. Predators have outshot Penguins 9-6, including 2 while on the penalty kill. Penguins have not recorded a shot on two power play opportunities.

5:16: Predators kill off another power play.

7:16: Predators called for their second penalty of the game, too many men on the ice.

7:30: Predators missed a couple of chances in front of net with Murray making saves.

9:09 Second stoppage of the period after shot deflected into net. Subban had just sent a crossing pass in front of goal, but no one was able to get a shot on it.

10:09: Predators missed an excellent chance for a goal in front of Murray.

10:18: Traffic in front of the Penguins net results in a collision with Penguin goalie Murray.

13:10 Predators kill off the power play without allowing a goal.

14:29 left in first period: Pekka Rinne makes two saves a close range before freezing the puck.

15:10 left in first period: Pittsburgh goes on the power play after P.K. Subban whistled for holding.

17:14 left in first period: Pittsburgh scores first on a rebound slap shot by Jake Guentzel after a turnover in the defensive end.

7:20 p.m. - Martina McBride sings the national anthem and Hank Williams Jr. is the hype guy before the game.

7:15 p.m. - Pekka Rinne will start in goal for Predators. Parenteau replaces McLeod in the lineup.

7 p.m.

Teams have completed their pregame skate. Predators had 19 forwards and defensemen take part in skate. Presumable one will be a healthy scratch. ESPN reported earlier PA Parenteau would be inserted into the lineup. Parenteau and Cody McLeod were on the ice.
