NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Former Davidson County General Sessions Judge Casey Moreland will not go to trial on June 27.

Moreland’s defense team said it needs more time to prepare for the trial.

Moreland is facing charges that he obstructed justice. Federal prosecutors said he tried to bribe his former lover and set her up on phony drug charges.

That woman, Natalie Amos, is expected to be a witness in the federal corruption case against Moreland.

The Channel 4 I-Team first broke the story in January that two women, Amos was one of them, claimed they had sex with the judge and that he altered the outcome of their cases.

Moreland resigned his seat as judge resigned effective April 4 after being indicted on the charges by a federal grand jury.
