According to Metro Police, a man and a teen are now facing criminal homicide charges following the fatal shooting of Travis Rosemond in the James Cayce public housing development in East Nashville on Friday afternoon.
Rosemond was visiting a friend near South 8th Street, on Friday, when witnesses say he exchanged gunfire with Montel Sowell, 20, and a 14-year-old teen, an East Precinct investigation confirmed.
Police recovered a .38 caliber revolver from the passenger of the Buick Century where Rosemond was found dead in the front passenger seat.
The 14-year-old teen charged in the incident fled the scene with a gunshot to the arm, running inside the back door of an apartment in the 600th block of South 8th Street.
Sowell only ran a few feet from the scene after he was shot in the abdomen, falling to the ground. Surveillance video shows him tossing the gun to another young man, still unidentified, who fled the scene.
According to police, the teen is charged with criminal homicide in Juvenal Court, and Sowell will be charged with Rosemond's murder after he receives treatment for his wounds.
