Driver killed, TDOT workers injured in south Nashville crash

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A driver was killed in a crash involving a TDOT vehicle on Nolensville Pike in south Nashville on Thursday.

Police said Hong Thai was driving a Nissan Sentra when he crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit a Ford Explorer near Old Hickory Boulevard around 3:30 p.m.

Two TDOT employees were using the SUV to do survey work in the area. The driver, 22-year-old William Padgett, and his passenger, 37-year-old Jason Burton, both have minor injuries.

Thai, 52, died from his injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
