NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Cadaver dogs have been the focus of testimony in the ongoing murder trial of Caleb Cannon.

Cannon is accused of killing Nikki Burgess, his child's mother, three years ago. Her body has never been found.

One of the dog's handler, Dr. Ysela Carillo, was on the stand for about 90 minutes Thursday morning.

She spoke about her 10-year-old Belgian Malinois named Cleo, who is one of the dogs who searched Cannon's house after Burgess disappeared.

While there was no physical evidence found at the house, Carillo said the dog made several indications it had sniffed human remains in the bathroom.

"She actually got into the bathtub and jumped up and was trying to get to me, came out, jumped on me, went back to the bathtub and started kind of pawing at the drain," Carillo said.

The defense team questioned Carillo for over an hour arguing the dog wasn't trained properly and that Carillo kept insufficient training logs.

Two other cadaver dog handlers took the stand Thursday.
