6 treated after ammonia leak at Tyson plant in Goodlettsville

GOODLETTSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Emergency officials responded to an ammonia leak at the Tyson Foods plant in Goodlettsville on Thursday morning.

All employees were evacuated from the facility on Cartwright Street, which is off Dickerson Pike.

Officials on scene said a machine malfunction caused the ammonia to leak.

Six people received medical treatment in connection with the incident. Two of them were sent to the hospital.

As of 7:30 a.m., crews were still working to air out the facility.
