CORDOVA, Tenn. (WATN/CNN) – Several adults at a high school graduation ceremony in Memphis got into a fist fight, and stole the spotlight away from students Tuesday night.

Graduating seniors at Arlington High School were walking down the aisle at Bellevue Baptist Church when the chaos broke out.

A man who recorded video of the fight said it started with an argument over saved seats.

In the video, a man shoves a woman in a brown dress. That woman shoves the man back, and another person throws water. Then, a handful of women begin throwing punches and pulling each other’s hair.

"I'm sitting here going, 'Is this really happening right now in a church?'” said Octavius Adams.

Adams posted video of the fight on Facebook, but the social media site took it down Wednesday.

In a statement, an Arlington Community Schools spokesperson said:

Last night we celebrated 500 students who graduated from Arlington High School. This year’s class earned over $30,600,000 in college scholarships. It was unfortunate that a couple of adults in the audience exhibited the behavior they did prior to the ceremony beginning and thus has caused a distraction from the celebration of our students’ accomplishments. The graduation ceremony was not affected by this incident due to the actions of Bellevue’s security team who promptly removed the adults from the ceremony. It is our hope that the focus will shift to our students and their accomplishments instead of the poor decisions by adults in attendance.  Congratulations to our 2017 graduates of Arlington High School.

Memphis Police and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said that neither agency was called in to assist, no one has filed a report, and no one has been arrested.

They said the situation was handled by church security and have not yet stated whether video evidence of the fight will lead to any charges.
