Friends of Fort Negley fighting proposed Greer Stadium development

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Greer stadium sits empty on a prime location in Music City.

Developers have big plans for now vacant ballpark. Among the plans being discussed -- a multi-use complex called Nashville Adventure Park, which would include luxury apartments & town homes, as well as restaurants & retail.

However, some are fighting to protect the area around Fort Negley.   “Friends of Fort Negley" is calling on the metro council to consider this land for more green space, instead of another development.

Robert Henderson is one of the opponents who said, “I think there are a lot of reasons you could argue to preserve this. I was out riding today and I hit 20 parks through the green way system from here to the other side of the river, and they were full.

“People like getting outside and enjoying these kind of places. So, I think that's an intangible asset that needs to be considered."

Along with removing green-space, the opponents believe this plan will cause water runoff issues, and more traffic congestion.

The Metropolitan Council meets this Tuesday.
