Police identify man fatally shot at East Nashville hookah bar

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police have identified the north Nashville man who died in a shooting at an East Nashville hookah bar early Sunday morning.

Nigel Phill, 27, arrived at Skyline Hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head around 1:15 a.m. in a personal vehicle. 

According to police and witnesses on the scene, the shooting happened in the parking lot of Cloud IX, a hookah bar on Gallatin Pike.

Police said it appears gunshots were exchanged between two separate groups of people in the parking lot when Phill was struck.

East Precinct detectives are still investigating the fatal shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward. Wednesday, Metro police released surveillance video of the suspect, who is described as a black man with a "high and tight" hairstyle. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the shooting.
