While the horses are the focus of the Iroquois Steeplechase this weekend, fashion also takes center stage.

Nothing makes a statement more than wearing a colorful, bold and beautiful hat.

From bows and feathers, to loops and ribbon, there are styles available no matter what your preference is.

Christine Moore, the official milliner for Nashville's premier spring event, gave the scoop on what's hot this year.

"Your hat definitely conveys your personality, no doubt about it. Are you a Southern Belle? Are you flirty? Are you sophisticated?" Moore said.
"The messages are transmitted through your hat."

Moore says to be brave and make a statement with your hat, whether it's a big-brimmed bold hat or a playful fascinator.

"What makes fascinator most alluring is if you tilt it down toward your eyes," Moore said.

One of the trends this year is hand-painted details being added to lots of floral designs.

However, one specific color reigns supreme.

"The brighter the pink seems to be the better the pink, but all shades of pink," Moore said.

Whether it's a hat for the infield, box seats or more sophisticated skybox suites, your hat is your primary accessory.

"They really think about what they're wearing, and they really go all out for it. I think that really Steeplechase is the Nashville Derby," Moore said.

Moore says it's your day to shine, so make sure to do it in style with your own unique flair.
