MANCHESTER, TN (WSMV) -

A Coffee County commissioner was arrested on public intoxication charges following a County Commission meeting on Tuesday night.

Steven Ray Jones, 40, was arrested after the meeting and charged with public intoxication, according to a court affidavit.

Manchester police were informed that Jones was possibly impaired leaving the Coffee County Administrative Plaza. Police said he had a very strong odor of intoxicant on his person and his face was very red.

Police said Jones admitted to drinking part of a bottle of vodka and chasing it with a slushy.

Jones was arrested and released early Wednesday morning after posting a $500 bond. He will appear in court on June 27.
