TVA officials warning of possible scam in Nashville area

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Tennessee Valley Authority has issued an alert about a potential scam affecting the Nashville area.

According to a news release, earlier in May, a young man went to a woman’s home and offered to check her attic insulation. He was reportedly wearing a badge with a lanyard and carried a gray clipboard.

The man presented the woman with an information booklet on TVA’s eScore home energy efficiency program. She did not let him in the house. After the man came over again a few days later, she called the TVA.

The TVA says they do not solicit door-to-door, nor do any of their contractors affiliated with the eScore program.

The TVA encourages anyone approached by someone claiming to be affiliated with eScore or any other TVA program to politely refuse them and contact them or your local power company.

TVA police are investigating the incident.
