NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

More than 200 students, teachers and parents are expected to participate in Walk and Roll to School Day in Nashville on Wednesday morning.

The event encourages kids to get more exercise by biking or walking to school instead of getting their parents to drive them.

Warner Enhanced Option Elementary will be hosting a Walk and Roll Parade starting at 7:30 a.m. The parade will start at the dead-end on Sylvan Street near South 8th Street and will last half a mile to Warner Elementary.

Mayor Megan Barry will be in attendance to talk to the attendees about the importance of daily exercise.

The event is part of Nashville Bike Month and the Safe Routes to Schools program.
