Pedestrian hit by pickup truck at Mt. Juliet gas station

A man was injured when he was hit by a pickup truck in Mt. Juliet on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Exxon on North Mt. Juliet Road.

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, 25-year-old William Rainey had stepped out of the truck and was adjusting his shoe when he was hit by the person who had been driving him.

The driver, 44-year-old Jonathan Cantrell, reportedly did not realize Rainey was standing there and was starting to pull out of the parking spot.

Rainey was taken to Summit Hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

Police said Cantrell has not been charged in connection to the incident.
