NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Country music stars were out at Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday night for Charlie Daniels 80th Birthday Volunteer Jam.

The event benefits the Journey Home Project, which connects donors to veterans organizations.

The Smoky Mountains wildfires were on the minds of the many stars who joined Daniels for the show.

Luke Bryan says he was in the area just three weeks ago.

"I had ridden my bike through the country and ridden through Pigeon Forge, and you hear about Dollywood being in danger. To so many country music fans, that area is a staple of a vacation area and you worry about everybody's safety," Bryan said.

Chris Stapleton also commented on the tragedy.

"You don't know what to say other than tell me what you need, help your neighbors out and check on people," Stapleton said.
