ATHENS, Tenn. (AP) - The building housing offices of The Daily Post-Athenian newspaper is among several businesses and homes heavily damaged by a tornado that touched down in McMinn County in southeastern Tennessee.
Editor Doug Headrick says a technician was in the paper's offices in Athens when the tornado tore the roof off the building early Wednesday morning. The employee was unhurt, but extensive damage to the building caused the offices to be closed.
The Daily Post-Athenian staff is working out of the offices of The Advocate-Democrat, a sister newspaper about 15 miles to the northeast in Sweetwater.
In Headrick's words: "We'll survive it, we'll figure it out. We'll put out papers and keep going."
The Daily Post-Athenian is an afternoon paper that publishes five days a week. The newspaper was founded in 1848.
