NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has arrested two men accused of stealing a Jeep loaded with stolen weapons and electronics.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office alerted THP that they had been in pursuit of the Jeep. The vehicle was last seen on Interstate 24 East at exit 11.

A THP helicopter pilot spotted the vehicle and guided troopers on the group to the area of Valley Trail off Brick Church Pike in Davidson County.

Officials said when the two men in the Jeep spotted the helicopter, they pulled into a yard on Valley Trail, bailed out of the vehicle and ran behind a nearby home.

The helicopter pilot spotted one of the men throw something on the ground near a tree. A trooper on the ground later recovered a loaded handgun.

That trooper then located the two men and held them at the scene. Metro police arrived and arrested both suspects.

The driver of the stolen Jeep was identified as Curtis Taylor, 21, of Nashville. He is charged with failure to stop frisk halt, theft of property that included $10,000 to $60,000, carrying or possession of handgun, simple possession of marijuana, and reckless driving.

The passenger was identified as Marquise Whitson, 18, of Nashville. He is charged with failure to stop frisk halt, theft of property that included $10,000 to $60,000, carrying or possession of handgun.

Both men were transported to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
