BRENTWOOD, TN (WSMV) -

Brentwood firefighters arrived safely back at home after traveling to East Tennessee to help fight wildfires.

The crews had trouble breathing with the heavy smoke, but they say the conditions improved greatly, thanks to all the extra help from surrounding fire departments in other counties.

However, just because the fires are under control doesn't mean they can't start back up again.

"We'd like to remind everyone that conditions are still very dry out there. We still have a burn ban in effect. This includes leaves and brush and open flames on fire pits," said Brentwood Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief David Harber.

The fire department also says to give them a call if you plan to do any burning in the coming days.
