CHATTANOOGA, TN (WSMV) -

Channel 4 is working to talk to the family of the school bus driver involved in a crash that killed five children on Monday.

It didn’t look like anyone was home at Johnthony Walker's house. Channel 4 knocked anyway, and a man spoke through the window.

He said the family is grieving, that they weren’t ready to talk to the media, and then asked Channel 4 to get off their property.

Neighbors said Walker would ride his skateboard down to the bus stop to go to work. They said he’s pretty quiet.

A few who know him said he’s a good guy who's done a terrible thing.

“He’s a good guy. I never saw him drink. I never saw him smoke. He don’t go with the guns. He’s a good guy ... He never thought it would happen on that day. Imagine five kids died on his bus. That’s a very tragic moment,” said neighbor Jerry Mondido.

Walker is being held at the Hamilton County Jail on $107,500 bond. He’s due in court Nov. 29.
