NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A convicted robber on probation was arrested Monday night during what police called a dangerous traffic stop.

Two Metro police officers tried to stop a silver Saturn Vue in the 500 block of Main Street just before 9:30 p.m. for making an improper turn.

Police said the driver, Joshua Hogan, was slow to stop before making a U-turn and pulling into a parking lot.

Hogan, 23, bailed from the vehicle and ran. When officers ordered him to stop, police said he pulled a pistol from his waistband. He tossed it into nearby bushes before he was arrested.

The .40 caliber pistol was found to be stolen out of Florida and had an extended magazine of 19 rounds.

Police said Hogan had seven grams of cocaine and a digital scale in his possession.

Hogan was convicted on three counts of facilitating aggravated robbery this April and one count of robbery in 2014. He was sentenced to a multi-year period of supervised probation.

Hogan faces several drug and weapon charges. He is being held without bond.
