NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man is in custody after he almost hit police officers and fire crews with his car early Saturday morning.

Vanderbilt Police say they found Michael Harvey in his car around 2 a.m. and were concerned about his well-being.

They, along with the Metro Fire Department, tried to get into his car to give him medical attention. Police say Harvey started his car, put it in reverse and stepped on the gas. Several police and firefighters had to dodge out of the way.

Police say Harvey smashed into the front end of a Vanderbilt Police squad car causing significant damage to the vehicle. Officers ordered him out of the car, but say he sped off.

Police found Harvey about a half a mile away and arrested him. He's facing multiple charges of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, evading arrest, and DUI.  He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
