NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Brittany Lincicome has shot a 6-over 78 in the first round of the Barbasol Championship, leaving the LPGA Tour pro's goal of making the cut likely out of reach. Lincicome was hoping to become the second woman to make the cut in a men's event and the first since Babe Zaharias in 1945. She's the first woman to get a PGA Tour start since Michelle Wie a decade ago. Troy Merritt took the first-round lead with a 62.

ATLANTA (AP) - Alabama's Nick Saban's influence was hard to miss at the Southeastern Conference Media Days. His coaching tree was represented on each of the four days of the media gathering by four of his former assistants who are now heading their own programs: South Carolina's Will Muschamp, Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher, Georgia's Kirby Smart and Tennessee's Jeremy Pruitt.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Triple Crown winner Justify won't be running during the 150th meet at Saratoga Race Course, but many of the best thoroughbreds will be at the historic track for the 40-day season. The meet features 69 stakes races worth $18.8 million in purses and opens Friday. Among those running during the season will be Good Magic, Hofburg, Gronkowski, Vino Rosso, and Bravazo. Todd Pletcher will be going for his 13th training title in 16 years.
