PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Pekka Rinne stopped 28 shots, Colton Sissons scored in the third period and the Nashville Predators beat the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0. Sissons got his second goal of the season early in the third, giving the Western Conference champions their fourth win in five games. Rinne was strong in his 44th career shutout and first of the season.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Portland Trail Blazers have signed guard Wade Baldwin to a two-way contract. Baldwin was the 17th overall pick in the 2016 draft by Memphis. The former Vanderbilt player averaged 3.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 28.2 minutes in 33 games with the Grizzlies, including one start. He also played with the then-D-League's Iowa Energy.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville interim coach David Padgett has hired Greg Paulus as an assistant, the latest addition to the men's basketball staff. The Louisville program for now is officially under Padgett's control after Rick Pitino was fired amid a federal investigation of college basketball.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Vanderbilt coach Stephanie White says it is a "slap in the face" to the Gamecocks that South Carolina still is waiting for an invitation to the White House as the reigning national women's basketball champions. Texas A and M coach Gary Blair took it a step further: He suggests President Donald Trump call coach Dawn Staley personally and ask her to visit because the honor is deserved.

HOUSTON (AP) - Riley Ferguson threw for 471 yards and a 21-yard TD with 1:28 left, Patrick Taylor rushed for a career-high four touchdowns and Number 25 Memphis rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat the Houston Cougars 42-38 Thursday night.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has been phoning a few friends to get an idea of what to expect when he faces top ranked Alabama in his first career road start. He has talked to Mississippi quarterback Shea Patterson and former Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs. Guarantano knows he can't fully understand what he will encounter until he steps onto the field.
