NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man who was shot early Friday morning has died, Metro police said.

Jhonquis Compton suffered a head wound in the shooting just after 1 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Heiman Street.

Compton died Wednesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Police said he was shot by a black man who had gold twists in his fair. The suspect fled the scene in a dark Pontiac sedan.

Compton was wounded in another shooting at 14th Avenue North and Buchanan Street in late August. Police said there is no indication that shooting is connected to last Friday’s fatal shooting.

Police are asking anyone with information in this case to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
