FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -

A barn in Franklin was destroyed when a brush fire spread quickly on Wednesday afternoon.

A worker inside the barn was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire also burned several acres of the farm located on the corner of Franklin Road and Mack Hatcher Parkway.

The fire was reported just after 3 p.m. Emergency crews from across Williamson County responded.

Investigators said a worker was burning a brush pile that got out of control due to dry and windy conditions. The fire spread rapidly to a nearby tractor and barn.

The 50-year-old barn was a total loss. The tractor was also destroyed.

A portion of Franklin Road was closed for several hours while firefighters worked to contain the fire.
