NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Tennessee Navy veteran has been convicted of lying to receive disability payments.

Edmond Deslatte, of Murfreesboro, pleaded guilty during a plea hearing in U.S. District Court on Friday.

Deslatte, 46, admitted he told a special agent of Veterans Affairs he had a medical condition that left him unable to work. He actually had a full-time job.

Deslatte’s story allowed him to receive 100 percent disability payments. He received about $148,000.

In 2014, a VA physician determined Deslatte didn’t have a medical condition. An investigation was then opened.

Deslatte faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. His sentencing is scheduled for January.
