Man killed in ultralight aircraft crash in Coffee County

HILLSBORO, TN (WSMV) -

The FAA is investigating a deadly ultralight crash in the Hillsboro area of Coffee County.

The Ultralight Sky Cycle went down along Prairie Plains Road just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

When emergency crews arrived, they found 52-year-old Michael David Nelms dead at the scene. His body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Nashville to determine his cause of death.

The Coffee County Sheriff's Department and the Federal Aviation Administration are both involved in the investigation.

The agencies are still working to determine what caused the aircraft to crash.
