NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Work has already started downtown as Tootsie's Orchid Lounge prepares to take over Lower Broadway.

On Tuesday, the landmark honky-tonk is celebrating its 56th anniversary with a big birthday bash.

The day-long celebration will kick off at noon with local artists performing.

As part of the festivities, a qualifier for Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest will be held at 5 p.m. The winner will get a seat at the table for the championship in July.

After a singing competition at 6 p.m., the main acts, including Trick Pony, Joe Diffie and Love and Theft, John Pardi and Randy Houser, will perform starting at 7 p.m.

Lower Broadway will be shut down from 4th Avenue to 5th Avenue.
