NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

NBC News has confirmed Today show host Billy Bush will be off the air on Monday.

The show's Senior Vice President Noah Oppenheim said in a news release, "There is simply no excuse for Billy's language and behavior on that tape. NBC has decided to suspend Billy pending further review of this matter."

This announcement comes three days after The Washington Post released an audio tape from 2005 of Bush involved a lewd conversation with now Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. The two were recorded by Access Hollywood, a show Bush was co-host of at the time, as they were working on a segment about a Trump soap opera cameo.

During the conversation, Trump bragged in vulgar terms about kissing, groping and trying to have sex with women.

On Friday, Bush released a statement saying, “Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago — I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along.”
