Fundraiser held for downtown shooting victim

Posted: Updated:

A fundraiser was held Saturday evening for a recent victim of gun violence in downtown Nashville.

It was earlier this week when Dietrich Minor was shot and robbed walking in the area of Lea Ave. and Hermitage Ave. near Broadway.

While Minor is at Vanderbilt recovering, his friends in Nashville gathered at The Batter's Box to raise money for him.

It cost $10 for a plate of food and all of the money is going to Minor's medical bills.

His friends said he does not have health insurance because he had just started a new job.

There is a GoFundMe page set up for him that has raised more than $25,000.

"He is in surprisingly high spirits. He's been walking around, I actually talked on the phone with him yesterday for fifteen minutes or so and he was just surprisingly happy and doing well," said Cara Roadarmel, his close friend.

As for Minor's condition he had surgery Saturday morning and his mother said it went well.

However, it will be a long road to recovery after being shot in the stomach and will be costly.
