NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A woman has been charged in connection with a crash on Bell Road that left one woman dead and another man injured early Sunday morning.

Linda Sarmiento, 30, turned herself into police Sunday afternoon. During an interview with crash investigators, Sarmiento admitted that she had been drinking prior to the accident.

According to Sarmiento, she was crossing Bell Road to head to the store when she heard a loud noise and saw two motorcycle riders sliding across the roadway.

Sarmiento said she panicked and returned to her apartment.

According to police, Jorge Gonzales and Emily Garlit, 23, were driving a 2002 Honda motorcycle when they were hit around 3 a.m.

Garlit was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

Gonzales was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Sarmiento has been charged with driving on a revoked license and failure to provide proof of insurance.

Additional charges are expected after the crash investigation is completed.
