Ellen Hoog is a forward for the Dutch national team and has been part of the team’s Olympic dominance, having won gold in both the Beijing and London Games. The 2014 International Hockey Federation Player of the Year has four career goals at the Olympics.
Field hockey beginnings
Hoog began playing field hockey at a local club when she was 7 years old. She quickly rose through the ranks and debuted for the Dutch national team at the age of 17.

Hoog is a two-time Olympian. Hoog and the Dutch team are the two-time defending gold medalists from 2008 and 2012.
Prior to a big tournament and before each final, Hoog and some of her teammates watch the movie, The Notebook. Since beginning this ritual in 2005, she says she has seen the movie about 130 times. In addition, before every match, Hoog puts on her right shin guard first, and then her left shin guard.
Off the field
Hoog is passionate about fashion and has modeled in photo shoots, including a Sports Illustrated swimsuit shoot. In 2015, she published her first book, In Perfect Condition, discussing exercise and healthy eating.
