In Group D play, Portugal claimed first place in the group and clinched a spot in the quarterfinals by beating Honduras 2-1.
The match got off to a wild start as Honduras opened the scoring less than 40 seconds into the match.
Forward Alberth Ellis received a cross in the box and put a diving half volley into the back of the net to give Honduras the lead.
Portugal responded in the following minutes with a few chances of its own, but were unable to find a goal.
The match continued at a quick pace for the opening 20 minutes as Portugal equalized in the 21st minute. Off a short corner kick, Tobias Figueiredo found himself wide open in the box and headed in a cross to bring Portugal level.
Portugal then took the lead in the 36th minute as Paciencia gathered a deflected shot and slotted the ball past Honduras goalkeeper Luis Lopez.
The teams concluded an exciting first half with Portugal leading 2-1.
Portugal and Honduras continued to create scoring chances in the second half. Portugal seemed destined to score another goal but Lopez came up with save after save to keep his team in it.
Honduras was able to find the ball in dangerous spots throughout the second half, but could not score.
In total, Portugal and Honduras each recorded seven shots on goal.
Portugal is now in first place in Group D with six points while Honduras sits at three points.
Portugal and Honduras play their final group stage matches on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. ET. Portugal faces Algeria and Honduras plays Algeria.
