True finished fourth at the 2012 London Olympics, when she was known as Sarah Groff. She caught up to the leaders during the run leg, but ultimately finished 10 seconds short of the podium.
She was named the USA Triathlon Olympic/ITU Athlete of the Year in both 2011 and 2012.
True broke the tape at the ITU World Triathlon Stockholm in August of 2014 to claim her first career World Triathlon Series win. She recorded four other top-five finishes in 2014 to finish the year ranked No. 2 in the world.
True is known for showing up to races with dirty hair. She is afraid that if she washes her hair, her swim cap will slip off.
