Seedings and schedule released for archery competitions at the Rio 2016 Games

Before the elimination rounds begin in archery on Saturday, individuals will compete Friday in a non-elimination, ranking round to determine the seedings for the rest of competition.

On the men's side, competition begins at 9 a.m. with all three American men. Olympic newcomer Zach Garrett, 21, ranked third in the world, will begin on Target 6. Fellow American Brady Ellison, ranked sixth in the world and a silver medalist in the team competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, will shoot at Target 7, while Jake Kaminski - a teammate of Ellison's in London in 2012 - will shoot at Target 8.

For the women, the United States failed to field a full team, but 21-year-old Mackenzie Brown, the only female American representative, ranked fourth in the world, will shoot at Target 4 beginning at 1 p.m.

For the team events, the schedule and groupings are as follows (All times listed are the Rio times):

Saturday, August 6 – Session 1

9 a.m. – Men’s Elimination Round - (Rankings)

Target A – France (15th), Malaysia (18th), Indonesia (14th), Spain (9th)

Target B – Australia (19th), Netherlands (7th), Chinese Taipei (6th), South Korea (1st)

Target C – China (3rd), USA (2nd), Italy (5th), Brazil (17th)

Saturday, August 6 – Session 2

2 p.m. – Men’s Quarterfinals

3:43 p.m. – Men’s Semifinal

4:39 p.m. – Men’s Final – Bronze Medal

5:07 p.m. – Men’s Final – Gold Medal

Sunday, August 7 – Session 1

9 a.m. – Women’s Elimination Round – (Rankings)

Target A – Columbia (13th), India (3rd), Ukraine (8th), Russia (2nd)

Target B – China (6th), Korea (1st), Chinese Taipei (4th), Georgia (7th)

Target C – Italy (9th), Mexico (12th), Brazil (20th), Japan (10th)

2 p.m. – Women’s Quarterfinals

3:43 p.m. – Women’s Semifinal
