Chef Paulette's Easy Puff-Pastry Churros

Easy Puff-Pastry Churros w Spicy Chocolate Sauce

1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed (such as Pepperidge Farm)
1 egg, lightly beaten for egg wash
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Chocolate Sauce
3/4 cup bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon chili powder

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

On slightly floured work surface, roll out the dough sheet to slightly thinner, making it about 20% larger. Lightly dab the entire surface with egg wash using a pastry brush. Fold the longer halves of the rectangle in half. Press down lightly to press out any bubbles.

Cut folded dough into 3/4-inch or 1-inch strips. Twist each strip into a spiral and place on a parchment lined baking pan, gently pressing the ends down. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden.
