NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Country music was alive and loud at Nissan Stadium on Thursday night, but you could hear a pin drop in the middle of a Charlie Daniels performance.

While onstage, Daniels welcomed a man who stared at the face of death and fought to stay alive.

It took a second for the audience to process what was happening.

Randy Travis had a series of medical emergencies a few years ago. His family will tell you it's a miracle to see him at this fan festival again.

Miranda Lambert just saw Travis in Dallas last weekend.

"It's kind of interesting when a hero comes to a show, it's a little intimidating, but when they're so nice, and such a fan of country, it makes you feel comfortable," Lambert said.

Travis will soon be a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. He'll be inducted this fall along with his friend, Daniels.

Travis has a long way to go before he can sing and play again, but he is sure trying, and the love fans felt for him filled the stadium.
