NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Tens of thousands of country music fans are in town for the CMA Music Festival, and some of them are already having issues with the sun and heat.

Vanderbilt has been the official medical provider for the festival since 2009. Doctors and nurses reminded festival-goers that hydration is key.

“Come down and have fun, but make sure you’re taking care of yourself,” said Dr. Ashley Brown with Vanderbilt Emergency Medicine. “That means drinking plenty of water. Oftentimes by the time people start feeling thirsty or come to see us, they’re kind of behind the eight ball. So make sure you’re drinking plenty of water.”

Vanderbilt staff have a pool filled with bottles of water and cold wet rags. Large fans misting water are also set up to help people stay cool.

Staff are also on bikes, Segways and walking around the festival looking for any signs of people in distress. Tents have also been set up throughout the festival.
