NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Three people were injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 24 in Antioch early Sunday.

Police said 24-year-old Christian Lopez was driving the wrong way near Bell Road when he hit another vehicle around 4:30 a.m.

Lopez and the two men in the other car were all taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Police said they found two 12 packs of beer and several empty beer cans in Lopez's car. Officers on scene said Lopez smelled like alcohol.

Lopez was released from the hospital and is charged with vehicular assault and driving without a license.

I-24 East was closed for more than three hours as crews removed the wreckage.
