NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Everything must go at an auction sale happening this weekend at one of Nashville’s most historic and familiar homes.

The only thing not up for bid at 714 Russell Street in east Nashville is the house itself.

It was once home to a Nashville mayor in the 1990s and a Tennessee governor in the 1880s.

“It has been called the museum by friends and family,” said Sandra Parker, who lives there with her husband David Parker.

Through their years there, one of them held on to everything they ever owned.

“That was me,” David Parker said. “I kept stuff. I kept things.”

Now, everything will go.

“You can’t keep it forever,” David Parker said. “It’s time for somebody else to enjoy it, and I hope the people who buy these things will appreciate what it is.”

So much has been collected and saved that a car won’t fit in the garage.

There are no minimum bids at this weekend’s auction.

“What’s junk to one person is a treasure to someone else, and we have lots of treasures,” Sandra Parker said. “There’s something here for everyone.”

For Sandra Parker, it’s a sad farewell to items that mean so much.

“Well the chandelier, that was in David’s boardroom,” she said. “It’s as magnificent now as it was at our wedding reception.”

They’re now letting it all go with one important hope.

“I want someone to love it as much as we do to have it,” Sandra Parker said.

The sale ends Sunday at 4 p.m. To bid on the 493 items for sale, click here.
