MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

Dozens of wedding dresses are currently on display as part of a unique exhibit in Murfreesboro.

The fifth annual Wedding Dresses through the Decades exhibit at the Oaklands Mansion features 60 dresses and the stories behind them.

“Most people keep their wedding dress in a box or under the bed, in the back of a closet, sometimes just left in the attic hanging,” said Mary Beth Nevills, education director at Oaklands Mansion.

After the ceremony, the dresses are rarely seen by anyone but the bride.

“It takes people back to a special day they may not talk about all the time,” Nevills said.

The exhibit features dresses from 1847 to 2015, including Channel 4’s Demetria Kalodimos.

“It’s just very heartwarming to be in the room with all of these wedding dresses, stories and photos,” Nevills said.

The exhibit runs through March 6. For more information, click here.
